In Tune With Nature
Toon Boom Animation and LEARN have come together to launch the “In Tune With Nature” contest. Elementary and secondary school students from across Quebec were invited to showcase their creative talent by animating the activity they find the most In Tune With Nature!

Rules of the « In Tune with Nature Contest »
By submitting an entry to this contest, applicants ("Applicants") agree to these official rules and regulations and acknowledge that the decisions of Toon Boom Animation Inc. and the Quebec Leading English Education and Resource Network (hereafter known as Toon Boom and LEARN) shall be binding and final in all matters relating to this Contest. Please review carefully.Art. 1. Definition:
The “In Tune with Nature Contest” is scheduled from February 1 until April 17, 2012. It is organized by Toon Boom and LEARN.Art. 2. Eligibility:
2.1 All participants must attend a school in an organization part of the LEARN community and be in grades 3, 4, 5, 6 or secondary. Participants can work in teams of no more than 2.
The following organizations are members of the LEARN community:
- All nine (9) English School Boards: CQSB, EMSB, ETSB, ESSB, LBPSB, NFSB, RSB, SWLSB, WQSB
- Littoral School Board (English sector)
- Cree (English sector)
- Kativik (English sector)
- FNEC (English sector)
- Other MELS certified schools offering instruction in English
2.2 Movies ONLY created using Flip Boom All-Star software
(http://www.toonboom.com/flipboomallstar/) and/or Flip Boom Classic
(http://www.toonboom.com/products/flipboomclassic) and/or Toon Boom Studio
(http://www.toonboom.com/toonboomstudio) are eligible for submission.
Entrants shall create an animation on their favourite activity in tune with nature.
All submitted entries must be produced between February 1 and March 31, 2012 in order to be eligible.
All submissions must meet the following technical specifications:
- QuickTime (MOV) movie format
- Duration of 10 to 30 seconds
- File size not exceeding 8MB
Between February 1 and March 31, 2012, participants will be able to enter the contest using the registration form on Toon Boom’s website (contests.toonboom.com/learn) or as linked to from www.learnquebec.ca. All parents of participating students will need to sign the Application Form available here. Please fax it back duly completed to LEARN for the student’s entry to be considered. Detailed instructions are provided in the form.Art. 5. Permissions and moral rights
By submitting an entry to the Contest, entrants grant to Toon Boom and LEARN permission to display their submission on the web at (contests.toonboom.com/learn) and www.learnquebec.ca. The entrant relinquishes their moral rights1 to Toon Boom and LEARN. In addition, the entrant acknowledges that they are the legal rights holder to any and all elements submitted for this contest and that anything that is not covered by fair-use or parody laws is the property of the entrant. The logos of Toon Boom and LEARN are the property of Toon Boom and LEARN.Art. 6. Selection:
A committee of education experts including Toon Boom executives and education decision makers, will review the submissions and determine which, if any, warrant admission in the final contest. The selected finalists will be submitted to a public vote. The evaluation committee will not have to justify its decisions.Art. 7. Promotion:
The authors and rights owners grant to Toon Boom and LEARN an exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and distribute the Image(s)/Clip of their respective films in all media, for promotional and educational purposes.Art. 8. Vote:
The selected movies will be posted on Toon Boom's web site and visitors will be able to vote from April 7, 2012 until April 16, 2012. The winners will be announced on April 17, 2012.Art. 9. Winners:
- Winner in the Elementary cycle 2 will receive Flip Boom Classic and Garfield’s Comic Boom
- Winner in Elementary cycle 3 will receive Flip Boom All-Star and Garfield’s Comic Boom
- Winner in Secondary, all cycles, will receive Toon Boom Studio and Garfield’s Comic Boom
The contest organizers shall not be liable for any decision that they make related to unforeseen issues and for granting special derogation for requests sent in writing. Participating at the contest implies full agreement with the contest rules, without exception. If for any reason, the contest is cancelled or cannot be administered or completed as planned, Toon Boom and LEARN reserve the right at their sole discretion to terminate, modify and/or suspend the contest and to determine the Winners by having the Judges evaluate all eligible entries received prior to the action taken, or as otherwise deemed fair and equitable by Toon Boom and LEARN. By entering the contest, applicants agree that should the contest be terminated for any reason, such applicant irrevocably waives any right to seek and/or obtain rescission and/or equitable and/or injunctive relief.1 Moral rights are those that permit Toon Boom and LEARN to make changes to the submission, for example, but not exclusive to, correcting spelling errors.
Toon Boom Animation Inc. and the Quebec Leading English Education and Resource Network (hereafter known as Toon Boom and LEARN) include its successors, licensees, assignees, directors and employees under these terms and conditions. The Content refers to all written, animated and/or audio visual elements and ideas offered or submitted to the Contest including but not limited to project synopsis, outlines, biographies, videos, software, designs, likenesses, artwork, images, music, and information, tangible and intangible, including derivative works, on all media and formats, existing or future. A selection of the submitted Content will be made available for public viewing during and after the period of the "In Tune with Nature" to promote it and potential subsequent versions of the Contest.
When you upload Content to the Contest website, you are confirming that you have reviewed in full and are in full compliance with the official Rules and Regulations section on The Contest website (http://contests.toonboom.com/learn).
You shall be solely responsible for your own Content and the consequences of uploading said submission content. In connection with all Content that you upload to the Contest Website (http://contests.toonboom.com/learn), you affirm, represent and/or warrant that you own, or have the necessary licenses, rights, consents, and permissions to use and authorize Toon Boom and LEARN to use the Content, including without limitation any written material, graphic designs, animated designs contained therein.
You may not use The Contest's website on Toon Boom and LEARN’s respective web site for any illegal purpose, to make unsolicited offers or advertisements, to impersonate or falsely claim affiliation with any person or entity, to misrepresent, harass, defraud or defame others, or to negatively present Toon Boom and LEARN or the Contest. You are not allowed to transmit malicious code or to collect information of other users through Toon Boom and LEARN as well as the Contest websites (http://www.learnquebec.ca and http://contests.toonboom.com). You may not take any action to interrupt the functionality of or tamper with the content contained on (http://www.learnquebec.ca and http://contests.toonboom.com) or their servers or to unreasonably affect others' enjoyment of the Contest or (http://www.learnquebec.ca and http://contests.toonboom.com) in any way.
You agree to assume all risks of using the Contest website and not to hold responsible Toon Boom and LEARN and its affiliates, employees, officers and licensees and assigns and the Judges, for any damages, losses, or harm, tangible or intangible, including but not limited to compensatory, consequential, punitive, incidental, or attorney's fees arising from your participation in the Contest.
Toon Boom and LEARN will not be held liable for late, lost, delayed, not received, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, stolen, fraudulent, or illegible entries (all of which entries shall be automatically void and not eligible for the Prizes).
Toon Boom and LEARN reserve the right to cancel the Contest in the event that Toon Boom and LEARN determine, at their sole discretion, that there are an insufficient number of eligible entries submitted for the Contest.
If for any reason in the opinion of Toon Boom and LEARN, at their sole discretion, the Contest is not capable of running as planned or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including by reason of tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, or other causes beyond its control, then Toon Boom and LEARN reserve the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.
The photograph, name, voice, video footage and/or statements of selected participants may be used for publicity purposes without compensation, in any future publicity carried out by Toon Boom and LEARN.
Applicants have read and accepted Rules & Regulations and Terms and Conditions of this Contest, which shall be final and legally binding, in all matters relating to this Contest. All decisions made by Toon Boom and LEARN with respect to the Contest will be final.
Under no circumstance will the liability of Toon Boom and LEARN exceed the cash value of the Prizes.
The Contest shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the Contest will be construed in all respects in accordance with the laws of the Province of Quebec applicable to an agreement entered into and to be wholly performed therein, and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the provincial courts of Quebec, regardless of your own citizenship.
You may not amend these terms. If any of the terms are illegal or unenforceable or there is a claim that we have breached any of these terms, it does not affect or invalidate the other terms.
